On February 8, 2012 the “1. Mayor’s Day ”. The basic idea of contacting decision-makers in local politics was described as “long since necessary”.
The rapidly growing role of municipal actors in the energy transition was taken into account by the “Mayors’ Day”, which was well received right from the start. Following specialist lectures on energy and municipal policy issues, the municipal representatives had the opportunity to get information directly from the companies during the technically guided tour of the fair. The first-time project was rated very positively by the organizers as well as the around 25 participants who came from various regions in Germany.
At the beginning of the day, the focus was on visiting the specialist conference “Climate protection for municipalities and municipal utilities in times of the energy transition”. The participants were greeted by the Mayor of the City of Essen Rudolf Jelinek and Dr. Jens Baganz former State Secretary led through an exciting congress program. Among other things, there was a need for discussion on the topics of the energy transition, renewable energies and the achievement of climate protection goals.
This was followed by a lunch together and the departure for the tour of the fair, which included companies such as Trianel, ESB or Veolia. A platform for informative discussions was generated, which meant that important contacts could be made.
The organizers of E-world are looking forward to designing an event in the coming year to promote the exchange of energy policy information.
